A heroic story

I made this blog for people just like this one on the video. I couldn't imagine how she kept children calm during a shoot out. By singing them a song and making them think that nothing bad is happening? I saw this video first on yahoo news and now I found this one on youtube. And I wanted to show everybody her bravery and how she performed her responsibility as a teacher. A very good brave teacher.

A lot of comments appeared on yahoo praising and commending her. In a situation like these, everyone could have a panic but her ability helped more on saving those lives of the children. She received a praise from all over the world. But what matter most is what she did. And what she did was the root and become the shield for the children. Her name is Martha Rivera Alanis.  A 33 years old and a mother of two.

But many people also criticized what she did. Why did she took video from the incident. Is it to make profit from the video of scared 5 -6years old children? But she replied "The video was uploaded by a third party, I don't seek to profit from the children's fear."

Here are some comments I got on yahoo:

  • I commend this woman on her ability to keep a room full of five year olds calm in a very scary situation. If she didn't have control and the children were not such good listeners, a stray bullet could have made for a very tragic situation. I understand her wanting to make a video of the situation, to document what an issue this has become. It is horrible that she has to practice this sort of thing regularly with her students. I don't think that she is trying to profit from this in any way, I think she just wanted to document a growing problem. And who knows, if a stray bullet HAD come through the window, that video may have provided a clue to helping solve a crime somehow. Regardless of why she took the video, the fact of the matter is that this teacher's ability to keep her students calm during a scary situation potentially saved lives. And for that she deserves that certificate she got, and all the praise she is getting.
  • This lady is a teacher in the finest definition of the word!!
  • A certificate? How about a raise and a key to the city. Teachers are sooo unappreciated. They are the BACKBONE of our future. .
  • Now that is what being a "teacher" is all about. Not the money or title, but the love of children. Way to go, it is so re-freshing to get a good honest human filled story out of a "journalist"

I got this article/story on yahoo news. If you want to get the link here it is: http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110601/us_yblog_thelookout/teachers-act-of-bravery-goes-viral
